Wet and Semi-wet Spinning
Wet spinning, on the other hand, is a combed ring spinning system, mainly used for bast fibres such as flax and hemp. It is called wet spinning because the ribbon processed on the spinning machine is soaked in water, which softens the fibre and makes it easier to twist. The resulting yarn will have a rather hard and stiff touch, and the final appearance is hairless in the wet system and slightly hairier in the semi-wet system.
